Resentment...

In our lives almost everyone will find times when they are caught up in strong emotional states which may include feelings of anger, guilt, shame, rage, sadness, and self pity, to name a few.  The cause of our feeling may tend to be focused on an outside source which we say is “to blame” for our feeling the way we do.  If “they” had not done, said, etc., then we wouldn’t feel the way we do.

Does this not say we are letting someone else control our feelings?  Is this a resentment when it comes back time after time, seemingly without resolution?  How do we manage this resentment?  Do we act out on it?  Do we internalize it, creating depression and anxiety for ourselves?  Most important, is it a process of thinking which is ultimately self-destructive?

When we are in good spiritual health we have the ability to work through these feelings within a framework of “what can we do for it?  How can we relieve ourselves of this feeling?”

We have choices.   We can see others as the cause of our problems, which leaves us no resolution, as we cannot control others, or...  We can see in others only the perfection which has been created by God.  In a spiritually healthy individual the decision is easy.  May your journey be continued with hope...
